The proposed route along the railroad right of way will go through the operational marina at South Down Shores and marinas along the Weirs Channel. The WOW Organization estimates 152,000 trail users per year all potentially crossing in the path of forklifts transporting boats in/out of the lake.
The proposed route will coexist along an active railroad. The trail will be separated from the railroad by a 4 foot fence. There will have to be gaps in the fence to support existing crossings.
If someone wanders through the openings onto the track or falls over the fence, the result could be tragic.
